Old....oh, so very old

I'm thrilled at this point that the end of the semester is near. I really hate the fact that without fail, I've gotten excited about the start of classes EVERY year since I started college...only to end up hating all of my classes. My last film class with Mr. Siegel was worse than usual because he was just repeating things he'd said throughout the course of the semester. He saw that I was reading this book on the history of the opium plant and he says, "You know, the jewish community isn't immune to the ways of the synthetic fantasy." I look, I nod...but ultimately, I have no idea what he's talking about. The he says, for the second time this semester, "Many a young yeshiva boy has been lured by the mystique of the pipe." I just nod, again. He starts to tell me about how a drug dealer lived down the block from his house and he winks and says, "So you know, old Mr. Siegel isn't exactly the saint you thought he was." I was shocked. I asked him if he still used. I should've guessed. "NO!!!" he said. "I would never use drugs...I just lived near a drug dealer." I shoulde've known better. It's like I always say, "Many an 80+ year old college student is lured in by senility."
