The elderly deathwatch

I woke up way too late today. As I wake up, all of the old people in my building are preparing for the end of their day. There are scooters and rascals bumper to bumper in the hallway, all making a rush to get home for the news and a 5 o'clock brandy. Then they go to bed. Most will wake up tomorrow, and some may not. That's how you get an edge on the whole apartment lottery in my building. Knowing whose number is up. I hang around the laundry room for this reason, not to do clothes, but to evaluate status of apartments that may be available. I found out that Mr. Templehoff has been wetting the bed lately. Hmmmm...
