1:18 a.m. on 2002-03-26 As par the course, the Academy Awards this year were a gigantic waste of time and just a beauty pageant for inflated egos. As a student of the film, I'm disgusted that: A) A worthless piece of crap like "A Beautiful Mind" won Best Picture. Let's try, "Best Ad/propoganda/smear campaign". B) David Lynch got passed up for "Mulholland Drive" C) Halle Berry won for a horrendously mediocre performance D) Once again, 98% of the films didn't even deserve the recognition of a nomination I'm sure I'll hear 800 people say tomorrow, "I was like SOOO happy for Halle Berry!! I cried." And I'm sure 750 of the people won't even be able to name the movie she was in. Well, I'm glad Hollywood's annual pat-ourselves-on-the-back fest is over. Well, I guess our respect for national symbols of heroism in the form of firefighters and people who actually make a difference is officially over. Let us resume our idyle worship of those poor millionaire actors and actresses. They need our tears and love! Last Oscar telecast for me...ever. Or at least until Paul Thomas Andersen and/or Atom egoyan get recognized. in the slammer - up for parole CLIX |
